Jahaira Marrero

10th Grade Team Leader/Living Environment Teacher

Jahaira was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York and majored in Health Sciences at Stony Brook University then received her Master’s in Science Education at Long Island University. She is our 10th Grade Living Environment teacher and 10th Grade Team Leader. Outside of the classroom, she enjoys singing at church and blogging about health, beauty and hair. Her favorite book is “Left to Tell” by Immaculèe Ilibagiza.


Kris Yodice

Special Education Department Head/Special Education and Reading Teacher               

Kris grew up in Ozone Park, Queens, and majored in media and film studies at Queens College and received his Master’s in Education from Hunter College. He is our Special Education Department Chair, a 10 th Grade advisor, and co-teaches English in grades 9-11. Outside of the classroom, Kris enjoys drawing, collecting vinyl records, and spending every possible moment with his daughters, Evangeline and Vivienne. His favorite band is Guided By Voices. Some of Kris’ favorite books are “What is the What” by Dave Eggers and “Angela’s Ashes” by Frank McCourt.


Sean Mattio

10th Grade Community Advocate/ELA Teacher

Sean was born in New Orleans, Louisiana, but grew up in North Carolina, where he attended college at UNC-Chapel Hill, majoring in English. He later moved to NYC and earned his Masters in Education through Saint John's University. Outside of school, he enjoys reading, writing, and searching for the best doughnut in the city. His favorite books include Giovanni's Room by James Baldwin and The Handmaid's Tale by Margaret Atwood.
